Quiz Monetization Strategies That Actually Work
I went from forty thousand monthly users and zero revenue to a sustainable income. Here are the monetization strategies that worked and the ones that failed. I launched my first quiz site in 2023 with no monetization plan, just to see if anyone would take the quizzes. Within three months I had forty thousand monthly users and zero revenue. The traffic was real, the engagement was real, and I was paying for hosting out of pocket. Figuring out how to monetize without ruining the user experience took me most of that year. Here are the strategies that actually worked. Display Advertising: The Baseline Display ads are the easiest revenue source to add and the most passive once set up. I started with a standard ad network placement. one banner above the quiz, one between questions every three to five questions, and one on the results page. The between-questions placements earned the most because users were actively engaged and spent time on each question. The trap with display ads is overdoing it. I experimented with ads after every question and saw completion rates drop by twenty-five percent. The revenue per user went up slightly, but the loss of completions meant fewer result page views, fewer shares, and less viral traffic. More guides are on the Quiz Hub Blog.
